Insert Evaluation Final

IS UNIVERSITY ESSENTIAL

For the insert project my group and i put together what we thought would make a great insert.
To start of with, we brainstormed what we thought was trending or important  in our generation.

After A lot of brainstorming we came to the conclusion that we was going to focus on the topic of "is University Essential", As many of us are in our second year of college, Attending university is one of the hardest decisions we are facing to make at the moment and so in order to help make our decisions easier we went roaming the college and asking Pupils , Members of staff and visitors thier opinion on the question.

In our group we had 3 different roles , there was the camera operator , sound man and also a presenter. our show was presenter driven : Meaning the presenter would ask people the questions infront of the cam and would make the show more entertaining. Qestions that were asked to the public included :
  • Is universirty Essential ?
  • Did you go Uni ?
  • What do you think of the tuition Fee Rise?
My role in the insert was the presenter and also the editor, personally i think i completed this role succesfully and managed to make the show entertaining. What i could have improved on is probably face the microphone more towards the person talking because it caused a slight problem whilst editing ,alot of footage had to be deleted due to bad sound.

Role in Magazine show Evaluation

In our Magazine show i Volunteerd for the role of Producer .  (Role of a Producer) : "Television Producer. A Television Producer manages all aspects of production so that a completed program is delivered accurately." As producer i managed to Lead the group to a completed program but pesonally don't think it was delivered accurately.

From the Feedback given by my pears , they said that , producers are usually very dominant and bossy and thats the things i didn't apply , also Asighning roles to the correct people, At the end of the production i came to realize some people could have suited differn't roles which could have made the production much better.

What made my role as producer really hard was people that were not being co-operative. In the middle of the production some people started to forget this project was like role play and forgot to stick to their role.

Commitment was something lacking througout whole group, People that were told to do paper work would take long to get it in , people wouldn't turn up to lesson on time delaying things , people would throw uneccesary tantrums wasting time and also not being organised . Paper work would be given out to most people in class that had important roles and the would not bring it in on the shooting day

CLAY ANIMATION

*EVALUATION HERE .....

CWC IDENT EVALUATION

Whilst Making our indents for cwc the part that we used to effectively was in the editing process ,due to the fact we were doing pixilation animation ,it mean't all we had to do was import the files in the same order that they were shot in and just change the speed. The area in which we could have improved in time keeping was the shooting of the indent itself ,due to not enough planning we ended up spending 3days to shoot the Ident, next time more time should be taken to do the planning so that when we start shooting we know exactly what were doing.

The crew mate that i worked with was very co-operative and was also very helpful making it really easy to work with them . Occasionally they were being lazy for example going to get equipment and helping in  the editing but except for that once we started shooting things ran smoothly.

I THINK I DID WELL CONSIDERING THE FACT IT WAS MY IDEA THAT WE WERE SHOOTING AND I HAD TO BE THE PERSON IN THE SHOT AND ALSO EDITED IT ALL.

APART FROM THE FACT OUR IDENT IS 1:38  WHICH IS AVER 60SECS OUR IDENT FULFILLS EVERYTHING FOR EXAMPLE THE FACT ITS DONE WITH ANIMATION , ALSO MEANS EVERYTHING IN THE IDENT IS ORIGINAL CONTENT

PIXILATION ANIMATION ONLY WORKS WELL WHEN YOU DO LITTLE MOVEMENTS IN EACH SHOT BECAUSE THEN IT RUNS SMOOTHER, THATS WHAT WE FORGOT TO DO AT THE START OF THE PROJECT.

IN MY OPINION I'M PROUD OF MOST OF THE PROJECT DUE TO THE FACT I MORE OR LESS HAD THE LEAD AND DIRECTED IT AND ASLO LOOKING AT THE FEEDABACK IT WAS SUCCESFULL THE ONLY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK I GOT WAS THE FACT THAT IT WAS TOO LONG.

LETTER TO BBC

Dear BBC

I'm writing to you a letter of complaint about the recent showing of News Night that i witnessed. The reasons why i'm complaining is because i'm not impressed with the comments made by the famous historian David Starkey, He made a lot of comments that i reckon and i'm sure most of your viewers might have thought was a bit racist. Saying that the riots was caused by Black people alone makes someone as intelligent as him seem so narrow minded and also if it was he's opinion : some things are better not said . It seems as if he's mind has been left in the past and he thinks that ,that was entirely acceptable to say in public like it might have been when he

was a younger person.
A lot of comments discussed me for example he mentioned "the whites are becoming black" as if black people have a certain way of behaving. Also the fact that he is not taking in peoples corrections and is persistent in proving he is right and each time sounding worst and even more racist is just shocking

STOP MOTION!

The Technique i used to in order to create this animation was cut out stop motion. One of the first steps of making this animation was to go through newspapers and and magazines and cut out any images which i thought would make a good story , After doing so i then opened up istopmotion programme on the  mac computers and started taking different shots per frame and moving the images around in order to make movement.when we finally completed making the story we imported the video in final cut pro and that's were we added finishing touches for example voice overs and music and general audio. There are many Different animations that have been created with stop motion that have been published on t.v , the very most recent one is the FaceJacker and PhoneJacker , other examples are : South park ,intro to Russell Howards good news and have i got news for you intro.

One of the First people to use stop motion to create animations was Terry Gilliam and Lotte Reiniger. Terry Gilliam created the animation Monty Python and lotte Reiniger created a stop motion animation of Jack the Bean stalk , Both animators used similar techniques to me as in terry Gilliam  would cut out different images from articles on the other hand Lotte might have drawn the images because it was for specific characters.

I think the technique we used to create the stop motion was really easy due to the fact we used the images from the newspapers and magazines on the other hand if the images were drawn it would have been a really hard process. In order to make your animation very smooth and look good you have to make little movements as u move the images around and that could also be a disadvantage to stop motion because it takes up to much time.

Motion studies

The Imans walk

Ruths fail

-Eadward Muybridge was a lecturer and photographer born in 1813, Hes was born in the borough of Kingston upon Thomes. He was Most famous for the invention of Motion Pictures.
He was asked by the mayor to help prove the theory of horses flying whilst they galloped. The way he did this was ,he set up around 24 cameras that all used glass plates and as the horse would go past each camera it would trigger the camera to take a picture, he then took each image from the camera and put it together forming a motion picture

We Made 2 motion pictures , 1 of someone falling over some casually walking , we did this by setting up 6 computers and having someone to take the picture as the object walked past them , we then put all of these images into one usb and went on a website which turns them into a GIF file.
Overall although we successfully completed creating the two motion pictures i personally think it would have been better if more computers were used because then we could have had more Frames Per Shot.

zeotrope

A Zeotrope is one of the first ever equipment used to create animations. This is how the Zeotrope Works
You insert the zeotrope strip which has images that tells a story and that includes a series of frames...
Then you spin the zeotrope and stair through the lines made on them, because there are gaps between the line its almost like were blinking and a new frame comes up. Reasons why things work like that is because the Retina :which is based at the back of our eyes , remembers the last image and then we end up seeing the next frame.

The advantages of a zeotrope is that it is really simple to use and it also animates on the other hand it has a circular narrative which limits the story.the Drum itself also limits amount of frames you can include in it..

comparing to idents

The BBC2 Zeotrope indent is presented in a better way compared to bbc1 because the audience generally like to go for something much simple yet attractive and the bbc1 indent did not have that.

Because bbc 2 generally known for broadcasting programs for the older generation they used the indent to change the publics thoughts on this , they did that by giving the indent a futuristic theme; for example in the indent you see futuristic buildings and flying cars and then you see the number to appear from a Zeotrope (one of the first ever devices used to create moving images) Doing this tells the audience although we are quite old school and traditional we will also broadcast programs for the younger generation and so we will have programs for everyone. On the other hand bbc1's indent was pretty complicated and didn't really explain much about bbc Brand, bbc one was one of the first channels to be broadcasted
